Mac’s Task Manager

I started to miss the handy “windows task manager” while using my awesome iMac. You know what I’m talking about… when you press ctrl + alt + del and a little window pops up that tells you which programs are running.

I searched for the equivalent on the Mac, and I finally found it! You press command + option + esc! Voila! A cute little window pops up with a list of running programs.

mac force quit
Press command + option + esc to open “force quit” with OS X

ELECTROFYING! I think you may have moved up to level 70 warrior now. Hey, this is pretty useful information though for when I get my sweet ass mac. I think you should come out to WI when that happens and give me lessons. Do it bitch!

Ooh! Look at that! I’ve only used the “about this mac” on that list (to make sure I have the right version when installing many a program). Recent items! Cool!

You can also click on the “Apple” in the upper left hand corner and then click on “Force Quit”, takes you to the same place.

You saved me a HUGE headache trying to find what is “open” and what isn’t!! However, I still have a external drive that is not being used by anything and will not eject. Any suggestions?
By the way, I could use a neighbor in Cafe World…Have a good one!

I just gave up all of my Farmville-type addictions – sorry! Have you tried using disk utility to eject your external drive? Finder > Utilities > Disk Utility > Select the drive and click the eject button at the top.
