Silly, empty utterances from Jenn who knows nothing about a subject but writes about it anyway.

I’m not a big fan of fish. I don’t like the way it tastes and it stinks up the house when I cook it. I might have a bite of someone’s fried cod if they order it at a restaurant (smothered in tartar sauce). But Roch loves fish, so I cut out recipes and try new ideas.
I cut this recipe from a home and garden magazine. I thought at least I can make it look pretty if it doesn’t taste right. I did some substituting (as I usually do). I set the plate in front of Roch (with a side of pretty asparagus) and he thought it looked delicious. I thought it looked like vomit.
I made him wait to eat while I grabbed my camera to take a picture of his plate for blogging purposes. While he was eating the fish, I heard some mmms then he said this meal should be added our permanent menu. Whoo hoo! I can cook!
I’ll give you the link to Mrs. Dash’s official recipe, and I’ll give you my way below. I even changed the name.
Corny Salmon
1 colored bell pepper (not green)
1 can of corn
1/2 a red onion
1 sprig of green onion
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp honey
Broil the fish at 400° until it’s flaky. Chop up all the ingredients and mix together in a microwave safe bowl then nuke the mixture until it’s warm. Spoon the mixture over the fish. Done.
I feel bad because I didn’t use Mrs. Dash’s seasoning, but I didn’t want to buy the seasoning just for one meal. This Daily Twaddle doesn’t really have a theme does it? I just write about whatever strikes my fancy!

Google has done it again! They found another way for me to customize my search!
I’ve been experimenting with Jello recipes lately. I mixed a tub of whip cream with the last bowl of Jello I made. It was a huge hit. Tomorrow I’m going to try it with cream cheese. But that got me thinking… what fun ideas do other people do with Jello?
When I started my search for Jello recipes, I found out that Google has a custom recipe search! Awesome! Check out my screen shot - a thousand words right?

I work part-time a couple of days a week at an Espresso shop - but I don’t drink coffee. It turns out that most of my friends don’t drink coffee either. So when I told them to come by the Espresso shop for free drinks, they said: “I would, but I don’t like coffee.”
But wait! Espresso shops have so much more than coffee! I never drink coffee and I enjoy a delicious drink each day! Below are some of my favorites that you can order at any Espresso cafe.
- Any-Flavor Milkshake. “I’ll have a large chocolate-caramel-peanutbutter milkshake”.
- Smoothy. Usually a liquid smoothie-mix blended with ice. You may add juice or milk. “What flavor smoothies do you have?”
- Steamers. Delicious, hot, creamy steamed milk (non-fat if you prefer) with your favorite flavor. “I’ll take a white-chocolate-mint steamer with whip cream.”
- Frappes. Pronounced “frap” from the fun word frappuccino. A frozen, blended drink with a hint of coffee. The vanilla-based drinks can be any flavor by adding your favorite syrup. But most places carry specific flavors like our special - Honeydew Melon. “I’d like a large frappe - what flavor do you recommend?”
- Hot Chocolate. The cheapest and most delicious drink of all! Ask them to add an extra squirt of hershey’s. “I’ll take a small hot chocolate, extra sweet with whip cream.”
- Iced Tea. Plain or add a fruity flavor. “I’ll take a 20 ounce raspberry-peach iced tea.”
- Italian Sodas. Club soda, ice and your favorite flavor. If you want cream it becomes an Italian Cream Soda. “Give me a large french vanilla italian cream soda.”
- Chai Teas. A creamy blend of milk and spiced tea-mix. You can have it hot, iced or blended. The most popular flavor is “Oregon” but you can ask what other flavors they have. My favorite is vanilla. “I’ll take a 16 ounce Oregon chai.”
Disclaimer: Keep in mind that although I call myself a Barista in the title of this post - I have no formal training, therefore I just made up that the word “frappe” came from the word “frappuccino.”

I just ate the new snickers candy bar. This candy is promo for the new Shrek movie: Shrek the third. I already ate it and I forgot to take a picture of it. I found a snickers candy review that you might like to read.
The wrapper says “with green Shrek filling.” That made me laugh. Filled with Shrek’s green what exactly? It tastes the same as the regular snickers. They just dyed the nuget bright green. Really bright.
While I was searching for the “official site” so I could use their picture and give a little credit to a fun candy bar, I kept stumbling across articles about Shrek’s obesity-promotion. Or articles on the gay-hating “snickers kiss” commercial. Corporations have an agenda and hidden innuendos, so they claim.
Anyway, I found a little fun in the form of Shrek trivia on M&M’s website. I’m pretty good, but some of the questions are hard! You have to move your mouse around the forest then click (when you can) and collect M&Ms. For each M&M you find, you get to answer a trivia question.
I like games.

Lately, we’ve been shopping at the “Good Foods Store.” Organic meat and produce, whole grains - blah blah. I don’t want to eat pesticides or radiated meat, but my gosh! The food is so expensive without the bad stuff!
For two weeks we paid a little more and ate a little less. Some of the food tasted better - like the canned soup and bread. Yummy. The milk was horrific. The produce was rotten the next day (really). The service was friendly, I’ll give them that.
I’m sorry, but I’m a super walmart shopper. I can’t help it. They just have what I need at an unbeatable price. Hopefully I don’t get alzheimer’s for eating cheap.

I found this strange food in the fruit section of the grocery store. I thought it looked like a tomato.
The directions posted on the basket at the store said to peel if desired. The skin is thin like a tomato, and I don’t usually peel my tomatoes. But I peeled this persimmon. I thought the center would have a big pit like an avocado. But it’s more like a banana’s center. The texture is fibrous like a mango, but finer. The flesh is bright orange. It would probably look pretty in a fruit salad.
How did it taste? Not so good. In Roch’s words, “It’s edible.” It was bland with a bad aftertaste. The texture was slippery.
I found some information about this fruit at Wikipedia. It originated from China and was introduced to the states through California.
