Cell Phones Get The Blue Screen of Death?

Yes. It’s true! My phone finally died for good. So… for those of you that have heard “BATTERY! *click*” while talking on the phone with me will be pleasantly surprised that I will be upgrading to a new phone. Well, not really. I’m going to activate Roch’s old blackberry.

My phone is a Samsung SCH-A610. I did some online research for help resolving my blue screen issue and someone said that if you have more than 10 pictures on your phone that it will die (keep in mind this phone is the original camera phone). Ah… this makes sense because it went dark after I sent a pix message. I thought the battery died until I plugged in the charger… and it didn’t start charging.

I love the solutions that people offer to fix stuff like this. “Try taking off the battery and putting it back on.” Really? That seems pretty dang obvious to me. Of course I tried that. Der da der.

The actual blue screen warning read:
————–
- UART CONN -
————–
==========
NORMA MODE
DOWN LOADING
==========

Did I ever fix the problem?

No. I was able to pull the battery off the back, just a smidge and press the “on” button really hard to get the phone to work for about 5 minutes. I quickly deleted all but 5 photos. Crashed again. Then I did the same jiggling and placement of the battery. And I was able to write down all my contacts up to the S’s. Not too shabby. I haven’t been able to start it up since.

Is my phone really that old?

Gosh – everyone kept talking crap about the enormous size and weight of my phone. But it has a color screen! And it’s a flip phone – those are kind of new technology right?
