Ever wonder if your payment went through okay? I’m a little nervous that something might go wrong when all I see on the screen after I click “BUY” is:
Thank you for your order
Well, I just received the coolest online confirmation of payment! It looks just like a real receipt! This picture is a bit smaller than the original (for my blog-loading-speed purposes). I purchased Overflow for my Mac 0S X.5 (Leopard) because stacks takes too much time to customize.
It’s nerve-racking to give up my credit card information online (which is why I prefer PayPal). But this cute little receipt made me happy! I’m impressed with this website’s creativity - thoughtful all the way until the end!
I’m a bit of a simpleton.

Whew! eBay is stressful!
I know the tricks though. These sneaky guys try to get in on the item by bidding within the last 30 seconds of the auction. But I was ready!
I found on an item on eBay for Roch’s birthday present (hee-hee, it’s so awesome). The starting bid was set at $60. I set my maximum bid at $73.51. Weird number I know, but I bought a complimentary item for $2.49 and the shipping for the big item is $24.00 and I wanted the total to equal $100 even. Holy crap. Maybe I really do have OCD?
I set my trusty stop-watch from my google home page to match eBay’s official time. The two-minute warning bell rang (which scared the crap out of me) and I clicked over to my item’s page. I refreshed a few times to see if any sneaky-bidders showed up. I thought I was safe because I chose a max-bid high above the starting bid. I didn’t think they would have enough time to outbid me. But someone did! Crap! He bid $75.77 with 34 seconds left!
I had to hurry… I typed $78, clicked the bid-button and waited. Oh shit! I have to click confirm! HURRY! I clicked the confirm with one second left. Oh my God. One second! The auction ended at 16:28:39 and my bid came in at 16:28:38. And, since eBay bids on my behalf up to my maximum bid, I paid $76 instead of my “willing to pay” price of $78.
Oh man, it was so exciting! I can’t wait to get the present! I’m sorry, I can’t tell you what it is yet. But I’ll let you know in June.

Lately, we’ve been shopping at the “Good Foods Store.” Organic meat and produce, whole grains - blah blah. I don’t want to eat pesticides or radiated meat, but my gosh! The food is so expensive without the bad stuff!
For two weeks we paid a little more and ate a little less. Some of the food tasted better - like the canned soup and bread. Yummy. The milk was horrific. The produce was rotten the next day (really). The service was friendly, I’ll give them that.
I’m sorry, but I’m a super walmart shopper. I can’t help it. They just have what I need at an unbeatable price. Hopefully I don’t get alzheimer’s for eating cheap.

I found this strange food in the fruit section of the grocery store. I thought it looked like a tomato.
The directions posted on the basket at the store said to peel if desired. The skin is thin like a tomato, and I don’t usually peel my tomatoes. But I peeled this persimmon. I thought the center would have a big pit like an avocado. But it’s more like a banana’s center. The texture is fibrous like a mango, but finer. The flesh is bright orange. It would probably look pretty in a fruit salad.
How did it taste? Not so good. In Roch’s words, “It’s edible.” It was bland with a bad aftertaste. The texture was slippery.
I found some information about this fruit at Wikipedia. It originated from China and was introduced to the states through California.

No Contest. Best Buy wins.
I know I only have seven days until Christmas, but I haven’t bought Roch’s present yet. I already know what I’m going to get him. And I can’t tell you because he reads my blog (hush hush).
I like to check out the product online before I buy. And while browsing products, I want:
- Pictures. I don’t expect 3D views or elaborate interactive demos. I want one picture that can be enlarged.
- Pricing. I want all pricing including shipping and rebates. I want the shipping prices (and dates) before I check out.
- Overview & Specs. I want highlights of the product as the main section and a separate section with technical specs and details.
- What’s Included. This is extremely important. I need to know if I have to buy other shit to make it work.
Other helpful information could be product reviews or customer reviews, available accessories, rebate instructions, product comparisons, and warranty information.
But Best Buy offers all that plus a “product tour”. When you roll over the buttons on the item picture, a description of what the button does appears. It’s so awesome! They even have a glossary of terms!
Also, Circuit City does not have a branch in my town, so I can’t do the “in-store pickup”. We have an airport, why not a Circuit City? Because they suck. Best Buy wins my vote (and my purchase).
