Every time I use some mapping software I get a default location of Cupertino. I’ve never heard of this place. I assume that it’s some little Latin country that tourists frequent.
Maybe it borders Greenwich making it the ideal country for time zoning. Maybe it’s not real. In fact – Firefox has never heard of it either because I’m getting the red underline of misspellermentation for Cupertino.
Okay, once and for all – time to find out where this weird place is located. California! Really? It’s some suburban city in Santa Clara County! It’s about two hours south of San Francisco.
Ah ha… apparently Apple placed their headquarters here followed by a bunch of other high-tech companies including HP and IBM. That’s why people use this city as the default location for their software applications.
So this is the Silicon Valley? Nicknamed for its abundance of silicon chip innovators. It’s all coming together…
Webster says to pronounce this city like “Cooper Teeno.”
