Tagging on Amazon

Tags are keywords that describe an item usually chosen by the creator of the item. For example, I’ve tagged this blog post with: internet, shopping, and WTF. Users may now find related posts within the same category of information. Notice the “tag cloud” on the sidebar with all the tags I’ve used for my blog posts.

Okay, Amazon.com makes use of tags similar to mine except users create the tags. I noticed this today for the first time while I browsed gift ideas for my nephew.

Well, one product didn’t have any tags, but suggested a few including one called “douchenozzle.” What the hell is a douchenozzle? And what is a “chick lit?”

Stupid people. Why would they even create a category with the word douche to describe products that aren’t douche-related? Idiots.

Research

Yes, I actually did some research to find out what this stuff is all about.

Douchenozzle is apparently exactly what it sounds like. The nozzle on a douche bag. Reference: Urban Dictionary

Chick Lit is a genre of fiction written and marketed to young, single working women. “Chick Literature” Reference: Wikipedia
