OMG. I Upgraded to Wordpress 2.7

I recently upgraded to the newest version of Wordpress. I waited years to upgrade because I think it’s a pain in the ass. I have to backup, then delete certain folders, replace files, activate plugins. It takes forever! Boo.

Well, Apple has an app that lets me create and publish posts right from my iPod Touch. Cool! But… guess what version of Wordpress is required? You guessed it – the one I don’t have. Arg.

I want this app so I followed the Wordpress upgrade instructions. All went fine until I clicked the “upgrade automatically” on some stupid plugin – dashboard editor or something like that. YIKES! Errors all over the place. I immediately deleted the plugin folder from the directory (which took almost 15 minutes). What a nail biter!

Then. Nothing. My blog is just blank. Just the header and the title of my latest post showed up. What the crap? You’ve got to be kidding me.

I had to replace my theme with the default theme. Then I copied and pasted my CSS to the default stylesheet. But I lost a ton of cool crap that I did. Like the sidebar on all the single posts.

Arg. This is why I didn’t want to upgrade! So, you’ll see some weird changes while I try to get things back in order.

I forgot which version I had. I meant to look before I started the upgrade, but I forgot all about it. Maybe 1.5?

Yipes — no wonder you had trouble. The upgrade to 2.0 was pretty intense. I never had a problem upgrading after that.

Ah ha… everyone said the upgrade would be smooth sailing. But they didn’t know that I was using the first version ever created. :)
