Using GPS for Garage Sales

Everyone is getting the Spring-cleaning bug and getting rid of all their old crap. Lucky for them, I like old crap.

My sister-in-law and I hit the streets with a list of garage sale addresses from the local newspaper. We have a general idea of the house location, but we still depend on the seller’s signage to guide us. This works great for unadvertised sales - but the ones who advertise in the paper don’t seem to think they need to put up signs.

So, the next time we went out, I typed in all the street address ahead of time. The GPS unit routed a map for me, but gave me the scenic route or avoided highways or something - the route was inefficient. We ended up just picking from the list of addresses before we drove to the next sale.

It was so awesome! It told us exactly where to go, how many more miles to go, and which side of the street the sale would be. We use it every time now.

I wish the weather would let up a little bit so that I won’t get snowed on whilst garage sale-ing. Isn’t it April?

That’s pretty flippin’ brilliant. I’m planning on getting a GPS for hiking in the near future. Do you know of any that would be good for the great outdoors?

Cool! I’ve not properly learned how to use a GPS yet. It’s on my list for next week then through the summer! It’s storming here right now and last night too. I’m loving it!!! Thanks for the crap :)

Actually, I only bought the one unit by chance, so I can’t give any advice. But I love the model I have (it’s pocket-sized with pedestrian mode). It’s called the Pocket LOOX.

I’d have a look at the GPS Magazine website for recommendations. They gave a bad review for my LOOX, but it’s the only GPS I’ve ever used, therefore… I think it rocks.
