Why do we still need help leaving a message? Do those Geico neanderthals really exist?
“You’ve reached the voicemail for someone who is not here. In a moment you’ll hear a short chime referred to as a beep. At this prompt, start speaking into your handset and your message will be recorded for playback by the person you tried to reach. If you would like to convert your message to morse code, press twenty-nine. If you would like to order take-out, press pound-star-slash-booger. For more options, hang up and try again.”
I did some Google searching and found out that most carriers offer the option to push a button that will skip the mumbo-jumbo and take you straight to the beep. Here’s the nitty gritty:
- Verizon press *
- Cingular press #
- T-Mobile press #
- Sprint press 1
In an effort to try and save time and cut annoyances, I changed my voicemail greeting to this: “You’ve reached Jenn’s voicemail. Press star now to go straight to the beep.”
So go forth and leave your messages faster! Let us save ourselves from automated systems and reclaim our lost 30 seconds!
